Don’t Forget To Enjoy The Journey!
Don't Forget To Enjoy The Journey!
“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end” - Ursula K. LeGuin
What is going on in your life right now? Do you spend a lot of time dwelling on the past or worrying about the future? While you spend useless energy doing that, what about the joy you're missing here and now? Take a moment to look around and see what's really here once in awhile. If you take time to enjoy the journey, you can lose the regret for the past and the nagging "what if" about the future. Realize that the journey itself is the goal.
Worrying about what might happen, you will be certain to miss a lot of opportunities. Sometimes you can be so focused on the end result that you forget to savor the actual getting there. Suddenly, there's the big letdown after reaching your goal and you find that the enjoyment was in the journey, not the arrival. Sure, it can be very gratifying to reach a long held goal. The excitement is in getting there.
Just being on the journey will bring changes. You are not the same person at 40 that you were at 20. Sometimes it may feel like that inside (young at heart!) but you are a different person now. How you got there is the adventure. Enjoying the adventure also takes a lot less energy than worrying about everything. Taking joy from the journey is much better than slouching along with stress and tension nagging at you constantly.
How do you imagine it will feel when you reach the end of your days and you don't remember experiencing any joy from your adventure? What if you can't dredge up even a remote memory of shared love and laughter? How awfully sad that would be. Would you know whether the journey had been worth it or not?
We all must come to the end of our journey here. I refuse to even contemplate the possibility that when that day comes I have nothing to look back on, no good and beautiful thing that causes me to smile yet one more time.
Human beings are linear creatures. That means we live in a straight line from moment to moment. Each of these moments is an opportunity to create a life of passion, love and joy. Grab each one of them and hold onto them with all your might. They don't come again and all you will have is the fond memory of each.
Please take a look at my new book, "Create Your Destiny - By Belief!" I am very proud of it.

Hi Robin, great post. You are absolutely right, we see so many people scurrying through life trying to reach something or gain something and they think that when they obtain this THING then they will be happy. But they are missing the point entirely, enjoying the path that they are on and living in the present is what will make them happy.
If you are not happy with where you are you will never be happy with where you get to.
If you are not happy with where you are you will never be happy with where you get to. — I LOVE that Carol. How very true.
