Balancing Body, Mind & Spirit
There have been times when you take on extra responsibilities and try to be everything to everyone. How much stress do you suppose you are putting on your body? It will affect your thoughts to the point where you can't hear yourself think because of the all the noise of others always needing something. When your mind and body are stress, your spirit cannot abide in peace and joy. It's time to find a balance so your physical health will improve, your emotional strain will ease and your spirit will be nurtured. Without this balance, you get moody, impatient, tired, and just plain cranky. How much fun do you suppose you are to be around in that case? You simply cannot do it all.
Imbalance can happen even when you're being charitable and taking care of those less fortunate. There is reward in this type of work, but you cannot give what you do not have. If you are not in balance, how can you help anyone else? Being selfish and thinking about revitalizing your own spirit is not a bad thing. When you have a balance in all areas, you will be more able to help others. Do something simple for yourself. Have a pedicure for the first time in your life. It could become a habit. Buy yourself a new tote or have lunch with a friend you haven't seen in awhile.
Worry is a drain on energy. You lose sleep because you try to control things you have no control over. Being mentally and emotionally in balance gives you back the ability to feel and to confront what worries you. If you worry enough, you could probably name every new wrinkle that shows up on your forehead. Do you recall the saying that worry does not add a day to your life? In fact, if you aren't careful, you will lose some of those precious days if you fail to find that balance.
You have to protect yourself from people (relatives or otherwise) who intrude on your hard won peace. If someone is nasty to you, walk away. They can be nasty long distance. Deal with crises as they arise and then let go of them. Stop giving your power to people and situations trying to claim your balance. If you did not cause the situation, it is not your responsibility. You cannot solve problems for the world. Stick with your own corner of the world.
You are in charge of your life, no one else. No one can take advantage of you without your permission. It is time to withdraw that permission. Do it with honesty and dignity. See yourself as the kind, decent and loving person you are.
