5 Easy Steps to Daily Motivation

Sometimes it really is easy to get motivated if you just know the simple things to do.  I have those days where nothing seems to add zip to my step and I feel like I have lost all of my energy.  Where did the enthusiasm go suddenly?  Here are some really easy tips that help me get my groove back.  Try these and see what happens!

1.    Have you ever played the "what if" game?  Have you imagined what it would be like if you had everything you wanted in life?  What if you had the perfect job or the perfect family?  What if you got that promotion?  What if your online business generated a livable income?  Playing this little game with yourself helps you see where you want to go and will motivate you to keep going even when you sometimes don't feel like it.

2.    What are the options?  Make a list of the options you have if you are thinking about quitting.  Take a good look and determine whether quitting is the only choice.  What is the emotion holding you back?  Is it fear?  Once you make a list of all the options, you may be surprised to learn that quitting falls way down on the list.

3.    Make a plan.  You have probably heard that old saying - if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.  Old sayings get to be old because there is usually truth in them.  A real solid plan of action will keep you on track.  Make a list of the goals you want to achieve in six months, a year, two years and so on.  That does not mean that plans cannot change, but having a real plan to follow will motivate you to action.

4.    Reward yourself!  Bribing and rewarding yourself might sound a little nutty, but it works.  If you have done a job well, then you deserve something special!  Have a candy bar; take yourself on a (small) shopping trip.  You have earned a reward after managing to complete a major project!  It is the little things that keep us going every day.

5.    Do not forget to ask for help.  Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.  For whatever reason, most of us are reluctant to ask others for help.  Imagine how less frustrated and tired you would be if you had some assistance.  Stop pushing yourself to do it all and let someone else help out.

Thanks for the tips Robin. #5 is especially hard for me. I guess I’m too much of a perfectionist sometimes.
